Technology produces many opportunities and challenges in the classroom. Being flexible and open minded will help you through in times of problem solving and trouble shooting.  Teachers must relinquish being the "sage on the stage" to guide and facilitator of learning.

Online learning is convenient and flexible.  It enables students to learn from anywhere at any time. Students have access to up-to-date learning materials and have the ability to communicate with experts in the field they are studying.  A well designed online learning environment will engage the learner and promote learning.

Self-reflection is a powerful way to learn. It is a self-discovery process that part of the learning process. Through blogging and commenting, students can be reflective of their work and the work of others.

Teaching with technology will engage students in learning and will make learning more meaningful and relevant to their lives. Technology provides many affordances. Teachers are better able to adjust instruction to meet the individual learning needs of their students.

The Internet is a resource of information on any topic. Some of the  information is reliable but  some is not.  Students need to learn to be discerning users of the Internet.  Evaluating websites for reliabilty and credibility is an essential skill for students to learn.

Our students are being impacted by this shift in our economy.  The skills students must acquire and develop in order to enter today’s workforce are changing.  The jobs that are emerging in our economy require specialized training, education, and high skills.
